Moon Lander is a free browser game about the hardest part of any lunar mission: the last few hundred metres. The Moon pulls with 1.62 m/s², about one sixth of Earth's gravity, so your lander falls more slowly than you expect but still needs a firm burn to stop.
You control thrust and rotation. Fuel is limited. To land you must touch down on a flat pad slower than 4 m/s downward and 2.5 m/s sideways, with the lander within 8 degrees of upright. Narrower pads pay more: ×1, ×2 and ×4. Your score is a base value plus the fuel you have left and how softly you land, multiplied by the pad bonus.
Daily mode gives everyone the same Moon each day (it changes at midnight UTC) so you can compare results. Random mode makes a new Moon every time. Works with a keyboard or touch buttons.
First rotate the lander to cancel your sideways speed, then use short bursts of thrust to keep the downward speed under 4 m/s. Burning too early wastes fuel, and burning too late means you hit the ground too fast.
The gravity is the real lunar value (1.62 m/s²). Thrust, fuel use and the landing limits are simplified so the game stays quick to play, but the basic problem is the same as for real landers: slow down, stay upright and keep enough fuel.
Smaller pads are harder to hit, so they multiply your score by 2 or 4. A careful landing on a ×4 pad is worth far more than a perfect one on the wide ×1 pad.
